Day
1 Begin your tour by picking up your rental car early in VANCOUVER and
heading east across the fertile Fraser River Valley region. Enjoy the scenic
drive to the interior of BC, and the wine country of Kelowna. Located in a
beautiful green valley Kelowna sits on a beautiful lake. Yachts and
houseboats constantly change the idyllic scenery. Overnight in Kelowna.
Day 2 Today
experience the wonders of the winemakers art with a "Daytripper" winery tour of
four local wineries, including lunch. Kelowna wines have won international
awards and you will learn some of their secrets! Overnight in Kelowna in
the heart of Canada's peach and cherry country.
Day 3 Spend the day enjoying the drive from the Okanagan Valley into
the Rocky Mountains. You will cross over Rogers Pass and through the Kicking
Horse pass on your way to Banff. Overnight in the picturesque alpine town Banff.
Day 4
Explore the wonders of world-famous BANFF, a scenic alpine
town that's also a centre for arts and entertainment, shopping, restaurants and
nightlife. Visit the Cave & Basin National Historic Site (included).
Luxuriate in the mineral waters of the newly-renovated Upper Hot Springs
(entrance included) and ride the BANFF
GONDOLA (included) for a 360§ look at
Banff and the Bow Valley. Shop for rare ammolite. This precious gem comes
from millions of year old fossils found only in Alberta. It is brilliant
with many different colors. Overnight in Banff, located in historic Banff
National Park.
Day 5
Today
you will drive to JASPER
via Canada's most spectacular mountain highway - the
Icefields Parkway. Be sure to stop and explore, take pictures, enjoy the peaks,
valleys, waterfalls, glaciers and turquoise lakes. PEYTO
LAKE, BOW
LAKE and MISTAYA
LAKE are favorites. A ride on a Brewster Snocoach
to tour the ATHABASCA
GLACIER is included in your package (April 15 - October 15
included). The Athabasca Glacier is part of the Columbia Icefields, one of the
largest in the World. Three different rivers flow to three different
oceans from here. This happens nowhere else on Earth. Drive past the JASPER
GONDOLA before you overnight in the
lovely town of Jasper.
Days 6 & 7
Return your rental vehicle in
JASPER and begin the two-day rail portion of your tour. Board
VIA Rail's "Silver & Blue" service, an afternoon departure, for an
overnight journey to
VANCOUVER. You will travel along the tranquil North
Thompson River, on the Interior Plateau with its sagebrush and Ponderosa pines,
then along the rugged Fraser Canyon past Hell's Gate. Your tour concludes upon
arrival in Vancouver.
