Some would say Peyto is the most beautiful lake in the World,
and they just might be right although there is plenty of other competition for
the title in the Canadian Rockies!
40 kilometers north of Lake Louise (26 miles) you find
astounding Peyto Lake. It's milky blue color is unique and will change with the
seasons and time of day. A 10 minute uphill drive from the Icefields Parkway is
an easy jaunt and you'll want to park on the lower level parking lot as the
upper is reserved for motor coaches. If you happen to share the viewpoints with
tourists from Asia and Europe prepare yourself for the gasps and accolades as
visitors are never disappointed with the spectacle. Bow Summit nearby is the
highest point on the Icefields Parkway.
